Googleland

It's been a while. Had my baby boy. He's great. I'm exhausted but he's cute so it makes up for it.

Still no job but moving to North Carolina soon so fingers crossed. I've been taking some Professional Development courses and today's was all about Google. Learned some new things and saw some things I already knew about.

Things to check out:
Brainpop
Creately
NoodleTools
Follett
and all the crazy things Google has on it. Not just email anymore so I better get with the times, during his nap times.

I have always wanted to use turnitin.com and one day I hope too.

Easybib.com I have always found helpful for students working on History day. Yes, it's important for them to know how to cite resources but as a fellow PD person pointed out today, "it's more important to grasp the content and understand why it needs to be cited rather than worry about where the period goes."
There are pros and cons to everything.

Also I am a huge fan of Google Scholar. Great articles on there and I would reference my students to it. Books were hard to come by, but articles were great. Lots of Primary sources.

Off to Googleland and will report on my discoveries soon.
